Sapphires are part of the Corundum family and can be found in a wide variety of different colours. The most common is the blue sapphire and the deeper the blue the more valuable. Other shades of Sapphires are known as 'fancy-colours' which can be found in a multitude of different colours from purples, to pinks, oranges and even grey. Some sapphires can also change colour, often changing from blues to purples, these are fascinating and very unique.

Sapphires are graded a 9 on the Mohs scale of hardness and is a very durable stone. They're suitable for every type of jewellery including rings because of this. Sapphire is the birthstone for September and also the gemstone for the 45th and 65th wedding anniversary.
